Dr hab. prof. UR Szczepan Kozak (born 26 December 1970 in Przeworsk). Historian (history of the 19th century, source text studies). Studied history at the Pedagogical University in Rzeszów (1989-1994). From 1994, assistant and then assistant professor (2002) at the Institute of History (the Department of Auxiliary Sciences of History). Ph.D. (2002) under the supervision of prof. dr hab. Jadwiga Hoff; habilitation (2014) based on the thesis Kobieta na prowincji galicyjskiej w świetle akt notarialnych 1871-1914. Studium historyczno-źródłoznawcze [Women in the Galician Province in the Light of Notarial Records 1871-1914: A Historical and Source-Analysis Study] (2013). Since 2014 in the position of professor at the University of Rzeszów. From 2005 to 2008 Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sociology and History of the University of Rzeszów, from 2014 to 2019 Head of the Department of Archival and Auxiliary Sciences of History (from 2019 with the status of a research unit). Author of 3 scientific monographs, 2 source editions, about 60 scientific articles, reviews and many other publications (e.g. 30 encyclopaedic entries to the Catholic Encyclopaedia and the Encyclopaedia of Rzeszów). Editor and co-editor of collective monographs. Editor in chief of the journal Galicja. Studia i materiały, a member of the editorial board of Kresy Południowo-Wschodnie and Przemyskie Zapiski Historyczne. Co-founder and President of the Przeworsk Regional Scientific Society. Member of the Scientific Board of the publishing series Przeworsk - mała ojczyzna [Przeworsk - a small homeland]. Chairman of the Scientific Council of the State Archive in Przemyśl (the 8th term), member of the Periodicals Commission at the Polish Historical Association, member of the Museum Council at the Przeworsk Museum. Research interests: social history, source text studies, archival studies, regional history. Conducts classes in archival science and auxiliary sciences of history. |
